Japanese Chicken Curry Rice Recipe Japanese Curry Rice is one of the most popular recipe in Japan. Many people like it! Yes, kids to elderly. You can see many restaurants have this meal, and people cook at home, school lunch, Office lunch, even camping! It is very quick easy recipes, you should try!! It is very easy because you just need to buy a package of curry sauce in the cube. The Curry package is look like this..

Ingredients
1/3lbs Meat (any kind, sea food is also good)
2 Carrots
1 Onion
2 Potato
2 or 3 Curry cubes from Curry package
4 cloves Garlic
3-4 cups Water
Instruction
1. Cut vegetables and meat like these pictures. If you want to have not so spicy curry, cut onion smaller as possible and sauté good. Curry will be sweeter. If you like spicy, don’t cut small. If you use ground meat, the curry will be sweeter, also. When I cook curry for Kids, I will use ground meat and add corn.
2. Put oil in the pot and sauté meat first. After cook meat (I usually do half way done), put onion and sauté. Then put other vegetables.
3. When all vegetable are cooked, add water. The amount of water is covering the vegetables and meat. I put 2 or 3 Cups, so adjust your self.
4.When water has boiled, turn to simmer. Then remove the skim that has formed.
5. Put curry cubes from the box. How thick the curry should be? It depends on you but it is almost same as gravy sauce or little bit thicker. So, if you think cube is not enough to thicken, put it more. I recommend one by one.Make sure not to burn the curry. It would be easy to burn if the heat is too high after you put cubes. Be careful!
My secret Japanese-Curry ingredient
See? Isn’t it quick easy recipe??? Many people put their own secret ingredients. Some put soy sauce, honey, chocolate, grind apple, ginger, etc. I will tell you my secret; t his is my secret Japanese Curry recipe. I put in ground garlic the last, before turn off the heat. About 3 to 5 min cook with garlic before you turn off the heat. I like to put a lot, it makes a big different! Try it!! Also, you may see the picture; I use carrots that are the baby carrots from bag. This way, I don’t need to cut carrots, save some time. When you are cooking, you may need to add some water. Water level is almost covering all ingredients in the pan. Lastely, put rice on the plate and curry over it! Ready to eat. By the way, I think second day is much better taste. 🙂

Thank you Vernon, you must have a good time in Japan at that time. The exchange rate was great for you, i envy you. I am very poor when I go to Japan this past winter because doller was very weak. The curry rice is a one of most Japanese people’s favorite food in Japan from little kids to old people. Sometimes I craved it. However it is very easy to cook and very yammy. I hope you can cook them from my website help and if you let me know how it goes, I will be happy. Thanks for writing me.

Hello and excuse me, i was reading how to do the curry bread ,and i came here to get the curry recipe, i was wondering since they said to evaporate it (the curry) how do you do that if it can be in the heat along time, because it can burn? I hope it makes sense, im bad at asking questions that make sense.
Yuri says
Hi Strawberry. it is very difficult to say how long time you need to put curry on the heat. Because i don’t know because even if i said one medium potato, it always different size. And every stove heat are different, for example it would be electric or gas… When you make this, maybe you should be with them and check if there are not burning. If it is high heat, it will burn. (actually, i burn curry many times)
Curry for curry bread, again, it is very difficult to say how long, because it depend your curry to begin with. Be there with curry and mix sometimes and make sure it won’t burn until curry gets harder. You may have to experience any cooking, (esp, it is new recipe) then you will start getting more comfortable with cooking. Good luck and let me know how you did this, if you can. 🙂

I’d like to know a cup of water refers to how many ML?
Yuri says
Hi Fran, If you are using American cup, it is 250ml a cup. If you are using Japanese cup, it is 180ml a cup. Mesurement is a only suggestion, it will be different always for cooking. Because my 3 potates are not exactly same size of yours. If it is too much water and too loose, add more curry cube. If it is too thick, add more water the end of the cooking. Don’t worry too much if you accidentaly put more water. Hope this helps you. 🙂
